Hi! I'm Manan. I'm a final-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I'm a graduate research assistant at the Automation and Digital Manufacturing Lab where I work with Prof. Chenhui Shao. Alongside my Ph.D., I'm also pursuing a Graduate Minor in Statistics at UIUC. Prior to UIUC, I received my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from BITS Pilani, India in 2019.
My research lies at the intersection of machine learning, applied statistics, and smart manufacturing. In particular, I'm interested in formulating data-efficient machine learning algorithms to improve decision-making in smart manufacturing. My research utilizes interesting methods like federated learning, active learning, and multi-task learning. Additional details about my projects are provided here.
When I'm away from research, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. Spotify is the most used app on my phone, which tells me the probability that I'm listening to music at any given time is about 63%.
